Ah yes, the akward question of asking someone if they want more of your money. It's akward for us as piercers & tattoo artist too, so hopefully this will help smooth things over.
We do accept tips, but you are not obligated in any way to tip. Tipping is a nice way of telling your piercer & tattoo artist that they did a good job. Appropriate tips depend on what you had done.
For a fairly standard single piercing, people generally tip $5.
For multiple things including piercings, stretches, changes or for more difficult things like ear projects or surface piercings, some people will tip more, like $10 or even more if you had 3 or more things done.
for quick stuff like jewelry changes and easy stretches, less than $5 is common.
Some people just use the same formula that they do at restautants- tip 15-20% of what you spend.
So, do not feel bad if you don't tip, but if you feel that your piercer & tattoo artist did a good job, they always remember the big tippers next time around ;} |
